Forbes Field
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Opened in 1909 as a steel and concrete structure and was completed in 122 days
- Designed by Charles Leavitt who also designed Belmont and Saratoga race tracks
- Original seating capacity was 23,000 and expanded to 41,000 in 1925
- Home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Steelers football team and the Panthers football team, and the University of Pittsburgh football team
- Steelers played from 1909 to 1970
- Panthers played from 1909 to 1924
- Pirates from 1909 to 1970
- Ball park named after General John Forbes, a French and Indian War hero who named the City of Pittsburgh
- Ball Park had a very large field of play with dimensions of: 360 feet to left, 462 feet to center and 376 to right field
- Although known as a pitchers ball park there was never a no-hitter thrown there
- The last game was played there in 1970
